At Activate, we value our surrounding area. That’s why we aim to conduct our business and operations in a way that reflects best environmental practice.

Our environmental policy means we:

  • Carry out ongoing reviews of all our activities, operations and procedures so we can identify, quantify and evaluate their environmental impact and set priorities to minimise these
  • Minimise any negative environmental effects our business may cause, using energy, natural and non-renewable resources efficiently, while minimising waste and pollution
  • Integrate environmental objectives where relevant into our business objectives in a cost-effective manner.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

“Our mission is to continuously improve our environmental performance, while providing a competitive advantage for our business”.

We:

  • Work closely with local suppliers to source local produce as much as possible
  • Reduce our paper usage internally by promoting our website for information
  • Sort cardboard, plastic, tins, etc. for recycling

Some of the actions we have taken to help us reach these goals and objectives:

·         All light fittings within ACTIVATE have been changed to LED lighting. This has reduced our energy consumption by 20%

·         All the takeaway cups are now biodegradable.

·        Staff members have received training on our Energy & Environmental Policies and initiatives through our staff induction process.

·         To help us assist us with our Sustainable Tourism Management, we have implemented effective systems for monitoring and adequately managing our waste, water, and energy.

Some of the actions we have taken to help us reach these goals and objectives:

·         We have recently installed 80 solar panels to our rook to assist with our electrical needs.

·         We recently installed a water fill up station to reduce the use of plastic bottles purchased and to encourage “bring your own” bottle

·         We recently took delivery of a large storage tank for our kitchen oil requirements and also monitor and control our waste oil through our supplier.

·        We have also introduced they recovery of any bottles/cans which are then 100% recycled

·         We introduced new “food” bins around our premises to encourage better separation,
